Breathtaking views unfold from Križna Gora – come and experience them.
We will start the hike below the village of Klance, near Gorenje Jezero. Along the way, we will soon notice remains of a former lime kiln and admire the depth of the Klanec sandstone gorge. On the Greben ridge, we will walk along a former military road and observe a ruined bunker of the Rupnik Line defense system. Passing meadows, we will reach the village of St. Ana and continue to the summit of Križna Gora. We will circle the Church of the Holy Cross and enjoy views westward over Lake Cerknica with the ancient town of Cerknica in the background. To the north, we will observe the Bloke plateau, once described by Valvasor as the center of Carniola. We will descend through small chapels back to St. Ana and Klance, walk through preserved village architecture, and possibly visit the Church of St. Pancras.
The hike will conclude at the starting point near the Hunting Lodge Gorenje Jezero, where a warm meal from T'dolenj Farm and relaxed conversation will await.
