From July 17 to 26, a student research camp for biologists is taking place in the mystical land of Lake Cerknica. Since we’d like to share our enthusiasm for exploring nature with you, we invite you to our open-house research days, where you’ll be able to get a glimpse into the work of young researchers, learn about their research methods, and discover the extraordinary natural heritage of our very special piece of the world.
Join us on Monday, July 20, at 19:30 in the parking lot in front of the Visitor Center Lake Cerknica at Dolenje Jezero.
As day turns to evening, the birds’ activity gradually slows down. Before nightfall, many species seek safe shelter for the night, and their behavior reveals fascinating stories about life in nature.
During this evening field workshop, we’ll join researchers in observing birds as they prepare for sleep and learn about their evening habits. You’ll discover how they choose roosting sites, why some species gather in larger groups, and how their behavior differs from their daytime activities.
During the observation, we’ll also learn the basics of birdwatching and identification in the field, as well as how ornithologists monitor bird populations and what birds tell us about the state of the environment.
