The second phase of the NP Academy project – Module for the hospitality sector – brought significant progress in February and March in the development of the local culinary offer in the Notranjska Park area. Following the initial activities, we once again focused on direct collaboration with hospitality providers and creators of culinary experiences, who contribute their knowledge and creativity to shaping the story of the destination.
From Idea to Plate
The core of the second phase consisted of mentoring workshops led by Matic Kriter, an expert in hospitality training, where previously developed ideas were further refined and implemented in practice. The process was not focused solely on creating dishes, but on designing a complete culinary experience – from the selection of ingredients to the way the dish is presented to the guest.
Together with the providers, we developed menus that will be presented at the culinary event Taste Notranjska, taking place on 3 and 4 October 2026. Special emphasis was placed on the use of local ingredients, seasonality, and incorporating the stories of Notranjska into the culinary offer. These dishes represent not only taste, but also the identity of the place they come from.

Focus on the Visitor Experience
Through practical workshops, we tested the harmony of flavours, methods of serving, and the overall experience we aim to offer visitors. A strong focus was also placed on how to communicate the story behind each dish – from the origin of the ingredients to the inspiration behind each plate.
The mentoring process enabled direct exchange of knowledge, experience, and ideas, which is already reflected in a more cohesive and higher-quality offer. Participants also gained additional confidence in developing their own concepts and presenting them to guests.
Stories Captured Through the Lens
A significant part of the activities was also dedicated to promotion. In collaboration with the professional production team KAJ5, we carried out photo and video production, capturing the culinary stories and the people behind them. The focus was not only on the dishes themselves, but also on the processes, creativity, and dedication of the individuals.
The resulting visual materials will contribute to greater visibility of the project and will be used to promote the Taste Notranjska event as well as the wider presentation of local cuisine.
Impact and long-term value
The Notranjska park – Academy project will strengthen cooperation among local providers, improve service quality, and foster sustainable economic development of the region in the long run. By establishing a knowledge network and involving young people, vulnerable groups, and experts in tourism, heritage, and nature conservation, the Academy will become the foundation of sustainable knowledge for Notranjska Park.
The implementation of extensive nature conservation projects exceeds the financial capacity of the local community, therefore Notranjska Park regularly applies for projects with the possibility of co-financing by the European Union.
