Animation for children
At the LIFE for SEEDS information stand, visitors could learn about the project’s importance for the nature of Lake Cerknica, for Slovenia, and for Europe more broadly. We presented the role of seed banks in the long-term conservation of plant species and explained how the project contributes to protecting species-rich grassland habitats, which are among the most endangered ecosystems in Europe. We also emphasized that seeds are a true natural heritage – something we can preserve today so it can grow tomorrow.
For younger visitors, we prepared several interactive activities. One of the most popular was a puzzle featuring plant species from the Notranjska Regional Park, where children could learn about meadow plants through play. Another highlight was the “Pollinators” game, which demonstrates in a fun and interactive way how plants and pollinators depend on one another. Through play, children quickly understand that plants and pollinators are interconnected, and that more diverse meadows support a greater diversity of pollinators.
