Twenty-one children from the first three years of local elementary schools are actively exploring different parts of the Notranjski Park. In recent days they observed birds at Lake Cerknica, visited Rakov Škocjan and Menišija, today they wandered with boots on their feet and flashlights in their hands through Križna Cave with underground lakes and the sites of cave bear bones. The camp will end tomorrow, when they will also face the submerged caves of Jamski zaliv cove, the Drvošec educational trail, and the long-awaited ride on the "lojtrnik" (hay carriage) wagon.
The camp also hosts the LIFE SEEDS project team, which explains to children how different meadow habitats are managed, why they are important, as well as what threatens them, and how they have set out in the project to help meadows that are being overgrown with shrubs and trees.
