The photo exhibition LIFE TRŠCA, created as part of the LIFE TRŠCA project, opened on Monday, 3 June 2024 at the Jože Udovič Library in Cerknica.
The exhibition explores the mysterious world of Lake Cerknica, with a special focus on the reed habitat. Curated by Maja Košuta from Notranjska Park, the exhibition is divided into three thematic sections, each displayed in a different part of the library:
- Water
- The Extraterrestrial
- The Colours of the Reed
Each section offers a unique visual perspective on the lake’s diverse and often hidden natural beauty.
Featured Photographers
The exhibition presents the work of local photographers who have spent years capturing the essence of Lake Cerknica:
- Zoran Vidrih and Sebastjan Zelič – wildlife portraits
- Matej Zalokar – cave photography
- Peter Janjić – Great Crested Grebes
- Tine Šubic and Blaž Žnidaršič – seasonal views of the reed
- Grega Žorž – aerial photography of the lake
- Ivan Kebe – unique perspectives, including:
- The reed through the eyes of a frog
Morning Bustle, accompanied by the verse:
Over the water surface,
the sun awakens our wilderness again,
chasing away the fog, while we stare.
Opening Event
The opening was well attended and warmly received. Visitors were impressed by the photographs, and the photographers shared insights into their creative process.
The event also featured a musical performance by students of the Fran Gerbič Cerknica Music School, including accordionists Ajda Milavec and Paskal Dokler, and a clarinet trio composed of Anže Kočevar, Žiga Kraševec, and David Trotošek.

Sixteen selected photographs will be on display at the Jože Udovič Library in Cerknica until 27 June 2024. We warmly invite you to visit the exhibition.

“Sometimes you look toward the lake, and the lake looks back at you,” says photographer Zoran Vidrih.
With that spirit in mind, we are already looking ahead to next year and planning a new photography exhibition.
