LIFE TRŠCA: In Memory of Dejvid Tratnik

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our colleague and respected friend, Dejvid Tratnik.

Dejvid joined the Notranjska Regional Park team in 2017 as the coordinator of the Kras.Re.Vita project. He remained with us until his far too early passing. With his dedication, professionalism, and sincere approach to his work, he left a deep mark both on our team and on the numerous projects he helped create. As a professor of geography and history, he significantly enriched our nature education programmes with his knowledge and enthusiasm, elevating them to a higher level of professionalism and substance.

But we will not remember Dejvid solely for his work. He was a man who knew how to listen, help, and encourage. His selflessness, warmth, sincerity, and simple sense of humor enriched the daily lives of all of us who knew him. He always found time for a colleague, offered help, shared his knowledge and experience, and did so with calmness, patience, and a smile. In his presence, we were often reminded of how rare it is to find people who, simply by being there, so naturally bring people together and create a sense of belonging.

His passing has left a void that cannot be filled. We will miss his wisdom, dedication, enthusiasm for work, and exceptional knowledge of the local community—but even more so, his warmth, humanity, and friendship. With his love for nature, people, and the education of young people, he inspired everyone around him and, through his example, quietly taught us the meaning of responsibility, respect, and kindness.

Dear Dejvid, we are grateful that you were part of our story. We will never forget your words, your smile, and your kindness. You will remain in our thoughts, memories, and hearts.
