Lake Cerknica is not only a natural wonder but also a place of constant activity and transformation. When the water recedes, paths, swallow holes, muddy tracks, and the quiet, often unnoticed inhabitants of this unique area are revealed. Where a duck swam yesterday, today a deer carefully steps. In the fog, the silhouette of a predator appears, a bird of prey circles high in the sky, and a rare bird calls from the reed beds.
Within the LIFE TRSCA project, we are organizing the second photo exhibition titled "Mirror of Nature: The Wild World of Lake Cerknica Animals," for which we are seeking photos of animals taken in the Lake Cerknica area.
Interested in participating?
If you have permanent or temporary residence in the Municipality of Cerknica, we invite you to share your best shots with us. Photos should depict animals in their natural environment — whether surprising encounters, close-up moments, or simply the beauty of the moment.

Each participant can submit up to 3 original photos in high resolution.
Please include:
- Photographer’s full name
- Title of the photo
- Location and date of the photo
- Contact information (email or phone number)
From the submitted photos, we will select a collection to be printed and exhibited in local libraries.
The exhibition opening will be on September 8, 2025, at the Library Jože Udovič Cerknica, with a program and refreshments provided. Until the end of the year, the photos will also be displayed at the Library Ivana Matičiča Rakek, Library Maričke Žnidaršič Stari trg pri Ložu, and Library Ivana Čampa Nova vas.
