Lake Cerknica is a landscape of constant change, where water shapes and reshapes the space. At times it spreads out as a vast, quiet lake; at others it recedes, revealing meadows, sinkholes, and a varied lakebed. It is precisely in this rhythm of appearing and disappearing that its striking character lies.
Lake Cerknica is therefore a place of unique moments. Every change in water level, light, and season brings a new story that exists only for a short time. It is in this transience that its charm resides—and also the challenge for the photographer to capture a moment that may never occur again.
As part of the LIFE TRŠCA project, we are preparing the third photographic exhibition entitled “Images of Lake Cerknica: Where water tells stories”, for which we are seeking photographs of Lake Cerknica and its ever-changing character.
If you have permanent or temporary residence in the municipalities of Cerknica, Bloke, or Loška dolina, we invite you to share your best photographs with us.
Your photos should capture Lake Cerknica—both when it is covered with water and when it reveals its lakebed. We are looking for images that express the relationship between water and land, between presence and absence, between reflection and revelation.

Each participant may submit up to 3 original photographs in high resolution.
Please include: the author’s name and surname, the title of the photograph, and contact details (email or phone number).
From the submitted photographs, a selection will be made, printed, and exhibited in local libraries.
The exhibition opening will take place on Friday, 5 June 2026, at the Jože Udovič Library in Cerknica. A programme and refreshments will also be provided.
