Hiking Festival in Notranjska Park once again attracted numerous nature lovers and hiking enthusiasts eager to explore the hidden corners of the mystical land of Lake Cerknica.
On Saturday, September 6, we set out on the "In the Bear's Footsteps" hike, where we explored the picturesque Menišija Plateau and admired the views from Špičasto Stražišče. Guided by Robert Kužnik, a local guide and member of the Menišija Tourist Association, we learned about the area’s natural and cultural heritage and discovered many details about the life and work of painter Maksim Gaspari. The hike concluded at the Notranjska House in Selšček, where a warm meal awaited us.

On Sunday, September 7, the hike on Križna Gora followed. Hikers gathered at the Church of Sts. Primus and Felician in Bločice and, together with guide Štefanija Šebalj from Cerknica Mountaineering Association, climbed to the summit. At the top, we were rewarded with an exceptional view of the Bloška Plateau, Loška Valley, and the intermittent Lake Cerknica. After a short break, we continued across the village Sveta Ana and the spring of Šteberšica before returning, pleasantly tired, to our starting point.

A week later, on Saturday, September 13, we embarked on the Javorniška Baba hike, organized by the Rakek Tourist Association. With guide Stanislav Gnezda, we walked through the vast forests of the Javorniki Mountains and enjoyed the mysterious world of karst phenomena. At the summit of Baba (1,085 m), we were met with sweeping views stretching from the Pivka Basin and Snežnik all the way to Nanos, Triglav, and the Javornik Ridge – a well-earned reward for a beautiful yet more demanding trail that impressed all participants.

Unfortunately, the planned hike on Sunday, September 14, from Šteberk to Karlovec castle, organized by the Tourist Association Lake Cerknica, had to be cancelled due to poor weather forecasts.
Nevertheless, Hiking Festival 2025 once again confirmed that Notranjska Park, with its natural treasures, scenic views, and rich cultural heritage, is an ideal place for exploration and active leisure.
A heartfelt thank you goes to all tourist associations, local guides, and providers whose dedication makes these experiences possible.
We look forward to new hiking adventures next year!
