The Ministry of Local Self-Government, Cohesion and Regional Development has approved European funding for the project “Restoration and Establishment of Habitat Types and Improvement of Habitats of Selected Species at Lake Cerknica, the Javorniki Hills, Planinsko Polje and Nanoščica – REVITA 2.” The European Regional Development Fund will contribute more than EUR 2.8 million to the project.
In the areas of Lake Cerknica, the Javorniki Hills, Planinsko Polje and Nanoščica, the REVITA 2 project (Restoration and Establishment of Habitat Types and Improvement of Habitats of Selected Species) will be implemented over the coming years. The project has been included on the list of projects of national importance. The planned activities will strengthen the conservation of natural heritage and biodiversity in one of Slovenia’s most valuable nature conservation areas.
The project will include a wide range of measures in the fields of nature conservation, environmental monitoring, public awareness and cooperation with local stakeholders. This comprehensive approach will ensure lasting positive effects for natural habitats and populations of species that are an important part of the European Natura 2000 network. The project will therefore make an important contribution to the implementation of the Natura 2000 Management Programme and to meeting the obligations arising from European nature conservation legislation.
Through the implementation of the REVITA 2 project, efforts to conserve the natural heritage of the Notranjska region will be further strengthened, while creating the conditions for sustainable coexistence between people and nature for generations to come.
The project is being implemented under the European Cohesion Policy Programme 2021–2027 and is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund.
The total value of the project is EUR 3,470,306.35, of which EUR 2,895,920.36 will be provided by the European Regional Development Fund. The beneficiaries of the funding are the Notranjska Regional Park and the Institute of the Republic of Slovenia for Nature Conservation.
