On Friday, May 16, 2025, a ceremonial presentation of the Valvasor Awards – the highest recognitions in the field of museology in Slovenia – took place at the National Gallery in Ljubljana.
The committee selected from 27 applications in various categories. For the honorary Valvasor Prize there were 7 applications, of which 5 recipients were ultimately chosen, one of them also reaching Notranjska, as the committee awarded the honorary Valvasor Prize to Vekoslav Kebe for 30 years of continuous and devoted preservation of the natural and cultural heritage of the Karst field with the intermittently drying Cerknica Lake.
Kebe earned the recognition for his exceptional dedication, knowledge, and respect for the local space, as he thereby made a significant contribution to the understanding and valuation of one of Slovenia's most important natural landmarks – the intermittently drying Cerknica Lake.
Throughout his many years of work, as founder and custodian of the Jezerski hram, he has brought visitors closer to the unique stories of the interior space of Notranjska and, through exhibitions, guided tours, and educational content, formed an invaluable mosaic of local knowledge and heritage.
Heartfelt congratulations and thanks to Vekoslav Kebe and his family for preserving the exceptional cultural heritage of Notranjska.
