Key project activities:

The main purpose of the operation is to upgrade the already implemented operation Development of a new innovative tourist product Lake Cerknica, which took place in 2017 and 2019. The project beneficiary, in carrying out the activities, recognized the need for additional content and for raising the quality of services that will enrich the basic tourist product.

The starting point of the program remains Lake Cerknica with its surroundings, which, with its rich natural and cultural heritage within the Notranjska Regional Park, offers numerous opportunities for sustainable tourism development. The key role in this is played by active local providers, who are the foundation for the development of innovative and sustainability-oriented tourist programs.

An important project partner is Museum Jezerski hram, one of the central providers of experiences in this area. With its live model of Lake Cerknica, a multimedia presentation of the lake through the four seasons, and a rich museum collection about life by the lake, it provides a strong starting point for the development of diverse educational programs. These will be based on pedagogical and andragogical principles and aimed mainly at visitors who have not been as represented in the museum to date—families, individuals, and people with special needs.

Main objectives of the project:

  • With this operation, the economic partners involved in the project will strengthen their innovative entrepreneurial activity. By upgrading their offer and including it in a joint tourism product, they will increase the scale of work and sales and improve their competitive position in the market. One of the key steps will be the integration of the dispersed offer of thematic trails and its presentation in a single mobile application.
  • Project partners will also formally enter into contracts, which will enable a market-oriented joint presence in the market.
  • Both objectives complement each other meaningfully and at the same time contribute to nature conservation. The development of a tourism product with higher added value, based on innovative and green tourism, will foster sustainable entrepreneurial activity and contribute to the preservation of natural heritage.

Expected project results:

  • The tourist product promotes environmental awareness among visitors as well as among service providers. The emphasis is on sustainable forms of mobility, such as cycling, boating, hiking, and horse riding, which allow experiencing the natural and cultural heritage in an environmentally friendly way.
  • The results of the operation will be an environmentally conscious tourist product, which through active experiences in nature and through the holistic dissemination of knowledge about the natural and cultural heritage of Notranjska – especially the area of the Notranjska Regional Park – contributes to a greater understanding of the importance of sustainable conduct and the mitigation of climate change.
