Larval food plants: plants from the crucifer family, for example: species of the genera Cardamine (Cardamine), Arabis (Arabis), Lunaria (Lunaria), garlic mustard (Alliaria petiolata) and others

Orange Tip (Anthocaris cardamines) has the upperside of the wings predominantly white. The forewings are dark gray speckled against the hairy gray body; in the middle of the forewings there is a black spot, in the outer corner there is a black-gray band, which is considerably wider in females than in males. Males have the outer half of the forewings orange in color, females do not. The underside of the hindwings is for both sexes yellowish olive-green to dark green marbled.

The Orange Tip is a common and widely distributed species of butterfly that already in early spring flits about in both damp and dry meadows and shrubs, near wetlands, forest clearings, and also on mountain meadows.
