The Armorican skipper (Pyrgus armoricanus) is fairly large for a thick-headed skipper, yet still a small diurnal butterfly. The base color of the upperside of its wings is dark, brown-green gray, and it is adorned with a pattern of pale spots and blotches. The spots on the upperside of the forewings are snow-white, the markings on the upperside of the hindwings are dirty white, cream-colored. On the underside, its wings are golden-gray to greenish-brown with irregularly shaped white spots of varying sizes. For this species, the characteristic are arrow-shaped white spots in the lower outer corner of the underside of the hindwings.

The Armorican skipper lives on grassy, rocky slopes from the lowlands to the high mountains. It preferably flies in hot and dry shrub-covered places with an abundance of flowering herbs. In Slovenia it is listed on the Red List of Threatened Butterflies as a vulnerable (V) species.
