Slivnica lies above Cerknica, on the northeast side of Lake Cerknica. The broad crest rises from Gradišče (858 m) in the west to the highest peak of Slivnica (1.114 m) in the east. The hill is formed by Jurassic dolomites and partly karstified limestones.
