Common marsh-marigold (Caltha palustris) is a plant of wet and damp habitats. On the tops of its thick, hollow stems, early in spring open several bright yellow, five-petaled flowers with many stamens and pistils. The stamens are shorter than the petals. Dark green, glossy stem leaves are stalked. The heart-shaped to kidney-shaped leaf blade is up to 15 cm wide. Common marsh-marigold is a poisonous plant that is widely distributed in Slovenia.
