Some species of the golden buttercups (Ranunculus auricomus agg.) are so similar to each other that, for easier handling, we group them into a group (aggregate), which is indicated by the abbreviation agg. for the scientific name. Golden buttercups have two types of leaves on the same plant. Basal leaves with a coarsely serrated edge are stalked. They have kidney-shaped leaf blade, which can be entire to deeply divided into up to seven lobes. The leaf blade of the cauline leaves is divided into several narrow – linear-lanceolate lobes. Sulphur-yellow flowers with a diameter of 1 to 3 cm, but they are often not fully developed, as the crown may be deformed. The fruits – achenes are densely hairy. Species from this group are widely distributed across all of Slovenia.
