Razprt bel cvet Podlesne vetrnice (Anemone nemorosa)

Family: buttercups (Ranunculaceae)
Flowering time: March–May

Wood anemone (Anemone nemorosa) has on the stem a whorl with three ternate bracts that resemble the stem leaves. These develop only after flowering. The stem bears a single white flower with 6–8 delicate petals and numerous yellow stamens. In the undergrowth of forests it blooms at a time when the trees are not yet leafed out and enough light reaches the forest floor. It is a poisonous plant, widespread throughout Slovenia.
