It has adapted to grow on poor, permanently wet soil. In addition to water, it also loves sun, which means that wet meadows and low marshes must be mown regularly in spring when it starts blossoming.

If meadows are overgrown by bushes and other wood species, broad-leaved marsh orchid will slowly, but definitely, die.

Like all species from the orchid family, broad-leaved marsh orchid is protected in Slovenia as well. So let's respect this marvellous living creature and not harvest it.
