Pink flowers of the flowering rush (Butomus umbellatus).

It is one of the rare plants which can change their bodies and their functions in one growing season, to the extent that allows them to thrive in water and on land. This characteristic makes them amphibian.

Its remarkable adaptation, however, cannot save it from ambitious and inconsiderate human interferences in its habitat, which continues to disappear due to land drainage. In Slovenia it is endangered and, because of its beauty, also protected.
