A group of people is seated at wooden tables in a bright room with white walls and paintings on the walls. On the left side, there are arched windows, and plates and trays are placed on the tables. In the foreground, a person in a dark suit is standing, and the floor is covered with brown tiles.

As part of the LAS Notranjska NP Academy project – Module for the Catering Sector, a professional training session titled Hospitality in the Catering Sector took place last week. It was intended for restaurant owners and service staff from the LAS Notranjska area (Cerknica, Bloke, Loška dolina). The main goal of the workshop was to demonstrate how improving service quality and emphasizing a personal approach positively influence guest satisfaction and the reputation of the entire destination.

The workshop was led by Matic Kriter, an expert in training service staff, who guided participants through the theoretical and practical aspects of hospitality. He placed special emphasis on how even small, thoughtful gestures can create a sense of welcome and build long-term trust between the guest and the catering provider.

Key topics of the workshop:

  • First impressions – why they are crucial and how to improve them.
  • Friendly and clear communication – how to effectively respond to guest needs.
  • Personal approach – how to make the guest feel valued and welcome.
  • Practical examples – hands-on advice proven to increase guest satisfaction and loyalty.

The workshop also offered space for exchanging experiences among local caterers, strengthening connections, and promoting quality and sustainable services. Hospitality is not just kindness – it is the foundation of successful catering and an important part of developing a tourist destination.

The NP Academy project – Module for the Catering Sector – contributes significantly to raising standards in the catering industry and to strengthening this part of Slovenia as a hospitable and competitive tourist destination.
