As part of the LIFE TRŠCA project, we are preparing the third creative contest for children, which will take you into the world of wetlands.
This time, children will become frogs and other amphibians. Imagine living at Lake Cerknica – in a mystical land where water sometimes appears and sometimes disappears, where life beats to the rhythm of nature. You will become part of the wetland, as if you were really living there.
You can choose a real frog living at Lake Cerknica – perhaps the loud European tree frog, big Common toad, or tiny Agile frog – or other amphibians found in this environment, such as Salamandridae, or Bombinatoridae. You can also create a completely new, imaginative species of amphibian – unique and specially adapted to life in the mystical land of Lake Cerknica. Maybe it can swim like a fish, glide through the reeds like a squirrel, or have a very special way of communicating with other wetland inhabitants.
It is important to show how your amphibian lives – where it sleeps, what it eats, how it spends rainy days, with whom it socializes, or how it finds partners for breeding. Perhaps it will tell stories about its adventures, or quietly croak from under a leaf, observing the world around it.
Through this creative process, you will discover that wetlands are precious – not only for frogs and newts but also for many other animals, plants, and people. Amphibians are like little guardians of nature – if they disappear, it means that something in our environment has been disrupted.
