The Public Institute Notranjska Regional Park, on behalf of the Municipality of Cerknica, is publising a public call to owners of forest land for the sale of forest land of importance for nature conservation within the distribution range of the white-backed woodpecker (Dendrocopos leucotos) in the Notranjska Regional Park.
Purchase of Forest Land of Importance for Nature Conservation
As part of the REVITA2 project, the purchase of up to 75 hectares of forest land is planned. Following the purchase, the land will become the property of the Municipality of Cerknica. The Notranjska Regional Park will manage the land on a long-term basis with the aim of conserving nature and improving the living conditions of forest species.
Priority will be given to forest land that:
- is larger than 0.3 hectares,
- is important for Natura 2000 sites,
- is subject to less economically viable or restricted management due to natural conditions,
- is suitable for establishing ecological set-asides (ecocells) and conserving forest species' habitats.
