Notranjska park organizes professional excursions and field exercises for students.

The program interweaves visits to the Visitor Center Lake Cerknica and exploring karst phenomena on and around the Drvošec thematic trails, with the help of experiential workshops, exploration of habitats and the use of various didactic aids: binoculars, telescopes, magnifying lenses, identification keys, catch nets and worksheets. 

Through various activities they will address and achieve different objectives from the curricula: 

  • Active participation in excursions and strengthening the ability to write appropriate reports,
  • use of a geological map as an aid in fieldwork or rock research,
  • understanding the fundamental factors of karst formation and characteristic phenomena,
  • recognition of surface and subsurface karst forms in the field,
  • emphasizing the distinctive features of karst,
  • assessment of environmental protection issues of the karst landscape,
  • description of the main groups of characteristics of the High Dinaric plateaus and intermediate troughs,
  • understanding of terms population, biotic community, biotope, habitat, ecological niche, ecosystem, biome, biosphere,
  • understanding the structure of the ecosystem and its species composition,
  • understanding that biodiversity plays an important role in the functioning of the ecosystem,
  • understanding the differences between environmental protection, which deals with problems of pollution and the quality of the human living environment, and nature conservation, which deals with the problem of degradation and preservation of biotic diversity,
  • ability to work independently and in groups and to communicate appropriately in various situations.
