Natural Science Days for the 1st Cycle of Primary School

The program weaves together a visit to the Visitor Center Lake Cerknica and the exploration of karst phenomena on and around the Drvošec thematic trail, with the help of experiential workshops, exploration of habitats, and the use of various didactic aids: binoculars, telescopes, magnifying glasses, identification keys, catch nets, and worksheets.  

Natural science days for pupils in the first cycle of primary school include getting to know Notranjska Park and cover the following curriculum themes:

• Mastery of basic geographical terms: hill (hills), mountain (mountain ranges), plain, valley, river, stream, lake, arable land (field, farmland, meadow, orchard), forest,
• recognition, naming and comparison of different living beings and environments,
• explanation of how they actively contribute to protecting and preserving the natural environment and to the management of the environment in which they live,
• acquisition of knowledge that changes in the environment are sometimes beneficial for animals or plants, sometimes harmful.
