Notranjska park organizes science days for groups of primary school students from the 7th to the 9th grade.
Visitor Center Lake Cerknica
The program interweaves a visit to the Visitor Center Lake Cerknica and the exploration of karst phenomena on and around the Drvošec thematic trail, with the help of experiential workshops, exploration of habitats, and the use of various didactic aids: binoculars, telescopes, magnifying glasses, identification keys, catch nets and worksheets.
Natural science days for students in the upper grades of elementary school include getting to know the Notranjska Park and cover the following curriculum topics:
- Understanding the values and uniqueness of the Slovenian landscape,
- Describing the characteristics of the relief, climate and hydrology of the Dinaric karst landscapes of Slovenia on a map and in the field,
- Developing communication, social, cognitive and practical skills for exploring geographical phenomena and processes,
- Learning about methods of investigation in biology,
- Understanding the changes and development of ecosystems (e.g. the example of succession),
- Understanding that biodiversity is preserved through direct protection of all nature and the biosphere,
- Learning about some rare and endangered species in their own environment,
- Learning that the environment may contain substances harmful to humans and other organisms due to natural causes and human activities.
