A day-trip for avid cycling enthusiasts. This route brings together practically all the others – starting by Lake Cerknica, continuing to Mount Slivnica, connecting with the Menišija Plateau cycling trail, and finally looping back through Rakov Škocjan.
If you begin at the parking lot by Dolenje Jezero, head south through the village of Otok and then along the eastern edge of the lake toward Grahovo and Mount Slivnica. From Slivnica, descend toward Cerknica, but before entering the town, turn right toward Brezje and Begunje.
In Begunje you connect with the Menišija Plateau cycling trail. Follow it in full, then at the southern edge of the village turn right onto a gravel road leading between Begunje and Rakek.
From Rakek, continue to Unec, turn toward Postojna, and then branch off to Rakov Škocjan. Ride through the valley, past the Small Natural Bridge, then turn right and return via a scenic viewpoint to Dolenja vas, from where the road leads back to Dolenje Jezero.
This is a long and demanding route, so we recommend planning a stop at one of the local tourist farms or restaurants to rest and refresh before continuing your trip.
